PPP and Fundraising Event

 Dear Village Community,

We hope this reaches you in good spirits.  It has been a rough start to the school-year and yet our kids and teachers are rising to the task and proving their resiliency.  Village teachers constantly go the extra mile. VCS has stayed committed to staffing all current staff and provides constant support to families and students. We are so fortunate. However, due to State budget cuts, pandemic, fires, reduced enrollment, and other stressors our school faces a deficit of approximately $95,000.

First, the PPP (Parent Pledge Program) is the backbone to our budget. Our budget supports the basics like teacher salaries and rent.  We need every family to participate in the PPP in some form!  We request $125/month, but any amount is helpful to our bottom line! Please fill out this form if you haven’t already.

Secondly, we are holding a fundraising event from December 1st-5th.  This will be a fun, virtual fundraiser.  We will start on December 1st, Giving Tuesday, at 6pm, with a Cocktail Hour over Zoom to “ring in the event”.  Our goal is to get everyone to participate by simply showing up and donating $10. Save this date and stay tuned for more details! After Giving Tuesday, between December 2nd and 5th, we will have an online auction through Auctria.

On Dec. 5th, at 6pm, we will have our Live Event featuring a Variety Show.  This will be a variety show that showcases the talents of students, and Village community members.  If you would like to perform an act of music, dance, tumbling, magic or some other fun trick, please fill out the TRY OUT FORM by November 6th to the below email.  We know our community has some great talent and we are excited to put together a fantastic show for you.  So, save-the-date for December 5th at 6 pm!

Live Auction Donation items or services ; we need live auction items.  If you have connections or donations please email us.

It's time to show your support to VCS. We appreciate you. And we need you to stand together with us and help build our budget back to its previous healthy state. Thank you!

Nanny Needed

My daughter, Shasta and her husband live in Santa Rosa off Petaluma Hill Rd. not far from Taylor Mt. On Oct 15th Shasta was rear ended, which left her with a cervical fracture as well as a broken nose. She is in a neck brace over the next few months, avoiding lifting or working and needing lots of rest. The family needs full time help with their almost 2 year old son Kyden and 5 year old daughter Evelyn who is at school (in person) until 1:00 each day.  They need care 9-5 Mon. - Fri. through the holidays and starts ASAP. We are hoping Shasta’s healing goes well and she will be doing much better in Jan, when she will have her final evaluation.
The family is able to pay up to $25/hour, depending on experience, for child care, basic home care (light housekeeping, food prep for childrenand helping Shasta with small tasks)
We need a person who is very COVID conscious, has more limited exposure and will wear a mask at all times unless tested and confirmed negative.

Food Assistance

Families needing food assistance can find a distribution site by a number of avenues provided by Redwood Empire Food Bank and SoCo Emergency.

The most complete resource is for those with internet access. The search tool allows you to enter an address and find all closest to furthest from you food distributions available by day & time as well as food distribution type with descriptions of each.

For those without internet access, the TEXT/COMIDA tool is a great resource for food available today.

Another good link is through SoCo Emergency

School Office

The VCS office is now located in room 30. This is the first room in the line as you come up the ramp or steps. Twelve years ago Rebecca and I shared our space in an 8x10 shed that wouldn't take up a quarter of the new space. We have had our eye on this room from day one and are so happy to finally be in it.

The 2020/2021 yearbook is going to look pretty different than years past, but we're going to make it work! We'll need LOTS of photo contributions from families. Screenshots, too! Included below are direct links to shared photo folders for every class, plus a general folder for photos that aren't specific to a certain class. You have to log in to TreeRing to access these folders. If you'd rather upload pictures directly from your phone, install TreeRing for iPhone or TreeRing for Android!

Not sure what to take pictures of? Take a look at these suggestions: Yearbook Ideas: We're All in this Pandemic Together. How to Capture 20-21 in the Yearbook.

When you upload pictures, it would be SUPER helpful if you'd add captions explaining what the picture is of. For instance, "Miss Barnum's Class singing in the round," or "Sally sharing her Passion Project on dolphins," or "Billy's distance learning workspace."

Yearbooks are 10% off if you preorder before September 30th!
