Notes from the PA

The monthly PA meeting is happening next Wednesday 3/21 in Rm 23.  The meeting is from 1:15 to 2:15, but come at 1pm to enjoy some munchies and pre meeting conversation.
Some things we are going over at this meeting include, the VCS summer program, Wrap of Cesar Chavez and how the Creek Clean Up Fundraiser is going.  If there are any questions, comments or suggestions from you the community hope you will be there to let us know.
Lauren will be facilitating this meeting with Crisarlin in order to avoid too many transitions, as Catherine will be in and out.

FREE - Film-screening of "DOLORES"

Village Charter School
Friday, March 23 at 1pm

Dolores Huerta is among the most important, yet least known, activists in American history. An equal partner in co-founding the first farm workers unions with Cesar Chavez, her enormous contributions have gone largely unrecognized. Dolores tirelessly led the fight for racial and labor justice alongside Chavez, becoming one of the most defiant feminists of the twentieth century—and she continues the fight to this day, at 87. (

5th Annual VCS Creek Clean-A-Thon

SAVE THE DATE! It's time to start planning for the Village Charter School's
5th Annual Creek Clean-a-Thon on Saturday, April 21st, from 9:30am-11:30am.

Have a special passion for our school's environmental mission? Want to help spread the word about our commitment to environmental education and community? Once again, we have a very special opportunity to support our children's environmental awareness and education WHILE serving our larger Santa Rosa community AND raising critical funds. All while having tons of fun!

We are again asking students and their families to participate in three ways:

          1. The first is by collecting donations/pledges for our school in support of our creek cleanup work. If each student gets $120 in pledges, we will easily reach our goal of $10,000 for our school!

          2. The second we are looking to procure local Community/Business sponsors who would be interested in making a tax-deductible donation toward our event (and having their business featured in our event promotions and on our event tee shirts).

Businesses that have confirmed sponsoring the Creek Clean-a-thon this year are,
          ·  American Tile and Stone
          ·  DryScape Material
          ·  Mr. Rooter
          ·  Art and Soul Music Studios
          ·  Envirichment

          3.  And last, is to attend the event and be the “people-power” cleaning the creek.
Even if you cannot attend the cleanup day, please still promote our school’s efforts by collecting donations/pledges in support of the event.

Check out the information and forms below, and visit the Creek Clean-a-Thon's Facebook Page

“Garden thank yous to: Ed Flores for weed eating the garden in preparation for Chris Maccario and his tractor; Brett Hebert, for stepping in to help me with the tee-pee, Blake Bishop and Kyle Blundell for braving the cold and mud to carve out the pathways.
