Creek Clean-a-Thon

5th Annual Creek Clean-a-Thon

Saturday, April 21st, 2018

On Saturday, April 21st, The Village Charter School will be hosting its 5th Annual Creek Clean-a-Thon Fundraiser.

We’re excited to have the opportunity to clean up trash pollution from a large section of Peterson Creek that runs very near to our school!

Trash debris in and around our creeks is a big problem that has a damaging effect on creek habitat and water quality. Litter flows from people’s lives into storm drains that then flow directly into our creeks, rivers and ocean. People, plants and animals need clean creeks and unpolluted water to be healthy. Our Village community will have fun together while making a big difference by cleaning up Peterson Creek. Let’s make this 5th Annual Creek Clean-a-Thon Fundraiser event our biggest yet!

We are asking students and their families to participate in two ways: One is to attend the event and be the “people power” cleaning the creek. The second way is to collect donations for our school in support of our creek cleanup work.

If each student collects $100 in donations we will raise $10,000 for our school!

Checks can be made out to 'Village Charter School.' Donations can also be made conveniently and securely via PayPal.

Even if you cannot attend the cleanup, please consider promoting our school’s efforts by collecting donations in support of this event. There are many ways to collect your donations: ask by letter or email, start a Facebook cause, go door-to-door and ask in person…be creative!

We are also looking for local Community/Business sponsors. If you have contacts at local businesses that might be interested in supporting VCS, please share the attached Sponsorship Letter.

RAFFLE PRIZES!
We will be holding a raffle on the day of the event! Bring your donation money with you the day of the event and get an extra raffle ticket!

EVENT T-SHIRTS!
All participants who fundraise and/or help at the event will receive a T-Shirt! If you would like an event t-shirt, be sure to register by Monday, April 9th! Help us reach our goal of $10,000!

2nd Annual Creek Clean-a-Thon

April 25, 2015

A big THANK YOU to all who helped make our second annual Creek Clean-a-Thon such a huge success! Thank you to the students who collected donations and to the 100 people who came out to clean the creek! Because of your efforts, the Santa Rosa Creek, aka “the Highway 101 for fish,” has been cleared of 160 POUNDS of trash (including bottles, pencils, pens, glass, boxes, sunglasses, blankets, tires, bike rims, cigarette butts, chicken wire, diapers, clothing, plastic Easter eggs, jars and hair clips). We also raised close to $6,000 in donations! Amazing.
