The Village is a tuition-free, independent public charter that serves 100 children, K-8. We are a diverse and dynamic school where the values of community building, social responsibility, and full inclusion are taught and practiced. We provide a small school environment and intimate multi-age classes with a rich multicultural curriculum that honors the whole child, including social and emotional development. From academics to arts to life skills, our teachers teach from the heart in a meaningful, whole-world, and nature-based context.

Job Description:

● Teach students in a multiage classroom setting (Learn more at Education World)

● Develop a multicultural curricula that gives students of all levels and abilities the freedom to move, think, explore, create, grow, and succeed

● Create a positive, rich, unique classroom learning environment that reflects you and your students’ personalities

● Embody and teach core life skills such as integrity, curiosity, initiative, flexibility, patience, self-worth, and sense of humor
  
● Instruct and interact with students individually and in small dynamic, flexible groups

● Manage the classroom and address behavioral issues with proactive, mindful,
compassionate, and restorative means and goals

● Work actively, cooperatively, and consistently with a small, conscious cohort of teachers,
as well as school staff, resource teachers, speech therapists, and the parent body

● Help plan and participate in classroom field trips, school festivals, and community events

 

Qualifications:

We are looking for:

● Teachers with classroom experience who are credentialed or in a credential program;
experience in multi-age classrooms a plus

● Free-thinking, progressive, independent, cooperative, caring educators

● Teachers who see and honor the core piece of every child s/he teaches

● Teachers who have knowledge of and experience with children of different strengths,
abilities, and learning styles

● Teachers who practice tolerance and acceptance
